Ever wake up wondering what your day will bring?  Will it be the same as yesterday full of minutia that lacked significance, or will it hold something new, novel?

The fact that this day doesn’t FEEL any different doesn’t negate the fact that it is a new day with new possibilities!  There are things to do that matter.  Most of life is spent waiting for the next great thing to happen, but what of all the moments in between?  It is in these moments that greatness is made.  In the quiet spaces of our lives is when character is built.  A sad statement is “One day, I’m going to ….” (you fill in the blank).  But what are we making happen today so that “One day” comes?

I have found that time is precious and life is brief.  Make the moments count.  Set a goal to do something today that you didn’t do yesterday.  Perhaps you start walking.  If you’re already walking, walk a little further.  Play a game with your kids, laugh with your spouse, speak to your neighbors, pick up a new book or finish an old one, eat a green vegetable, put down that extra piece of candy.

How do you change your life? One moment at a time. It starts with a decision and then a plan.

In women’s track, we would cheer one another on by saying “Run girl!” And so to all the women, ladies, girls and sisters who are reading this, I say, “Run girl!”  Run after your dreams because that’s the only way you will see them.  Run after your life, take advantage of the moments, and chase your passion.   The alternative is to sit, but that means that this time tomorrow you’ll be in the same spot.

So, get up and run.  If you can’t run, then jog.  If you can’t jog, then walk.  But get moving to show proof of life.  As you begin moving, you’d be surprised at how many others are inspired to move too!
