Many of our kids are home now and it’s causing additional worry and stress! How in the world do you keep your little people occupied throughout the day? What do you do to prevent the siblings from constantly being at each other’s throat? How do you balance tv, electronic devices, academics and outdoor play? Not to mention, how do you keep your energy up when all you want is a vacation or at the least a quick nap!
Good news – You’re not alone! Every mom has these same questions on her mind. But, together we can thrive through this season. A couple of things that have helped me thus far:

1. Stay Positive – Every mom I know has complained about how busy our schedules are. This imposed slower pace is the perfect opportunity to finally make the memories that we’ve dreamed of. Spend quality time with your kids, cook together, bake cookies, make crafts, play games, start a business, create something new. There is no limit to what you can do now that you have the time to explore the options!

2. Understand Your Limits – Some of us are busier than we’ve ever been because of our jobs in the medical field, military, education or other community-focused service. We find ourselves almost overwhelmed by the task of working overtime and still needing to meet the needs at home. Take time to breathe. Enjoy the execution of your duties while you are at work and find pleasure in the moments when you are able to be with your children. Take each day, one moment at a time with lots of deep breathing and this positive thought, “I am exactly where I am supposed to be. I am making a difference.”

3. Be Present – Our minds become overwhelmed when we begin to focus on too many things at once. Practice thinking only of the next step. Discipline your mind to stop spiraling to fill in the blanks. Instead remain present in your now!
