Being a wife is no easy task. For most, the wedding is exciting, and the honeymoon is fun. I remember spending months planning my wedding. My sister and I were to get married in consecutive ceremonies on the same day. It was the moment I had dreamed of. I spent time looking for dresses, reviewing checklists, choosing and writing invitations. I debated and selected the venue. I made plans for some of my best friends to come and be bridesmaids in the ceremony. When the moment arrived, it was like watching a well-rehearsed play. Most things went exactly according to plan and that which didn’t still did not disrupt the joy of the day.
When I reflect, there were several things I would have preferred (an outdoor wedding on the beach for one!) but I had what was desired…a man willing to commit his life to become one with me. It’s been almost 20 years now, and we’ve experienced A LOT of ups and downs. In this space, I’ll share some of those tales and hope you will join me as we learn from each other how to become better wives.
